KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Mental Health in Down Syndrome: Understanding Anxiety, Depression, OCD, and Trauma
Dr. Anupam Thakur - Psychiatrist-in-Chief at Surrey Place (Toronto) & Staff Psychiatrist at CAMH
This session offers families a clear, practical introduction to how mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma can uniquely present in people with Down syndrome, drawing on examples like how “physical health issues can mimic or mask mental health symptoms” and how DS-specific factors shape anxiety.

CHILD CARE AND FIELD TRIPS:

Childcare will be provided free of charge for all children registered:
• For infants and up to 5 years old – free childcare is provided onsite by certified ECE workers
• For all children ages 6 and up, a supervised field trip to FUNVILLA in Kitchener will be provided, with support by trained workers with full police checks. All entrance fees, lunch plus transportation is covered with registration.
